Making Up With Your Exgirlfriend

July 3rd, 2009

love help

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder.  If your girlfriend is now your ex, you probably understand the truth of that statement.  If you could only get a second chance, you’d show her how much you love her.  You can learn more about resolving relationship conflict here.

How do you go about getting your ex girlfriend back?  It depends on why you broke up.  Understand that and you’ll know which approach to use.

The first reason for breaking up is that you wronged your ex.  You either cheated on her or you were too controlling or too jealous or too demanding and she dumped you.  At some point it got to be too much and she told you to take a hike.

Another main reason relationships end is that she isn’t that into you anymore.  She was into you at first, but then maybe she didn’t feel appreciated or got bored or felt that you weren’t the guy she wanted to spend the future with.  “Relationship Drift” happened and she lost interest.

Important Childcare Management Ideas for Working Parents

July 3rd, 2009

It is ideal to begin your search for childcare providers during the time you discovered you due date. This gives you plenty of time to research your childcare options. Thus, searching for information like child care articles can be a great help. Depending on the type of childcare you choose, there are several items of importance to consider before selecting a provider. Are you going to need in-home care in which a single caregiver comes to your home If this is the type of care you need, be aware that many of these providers are not licensed nor are they required to be licensed. In this case it is especially important to get references from previous employers for at least 5 years. Ask for names and phone numbers; don’t hesitate to call the parents who have used their services. If the provider refuses or is unable to provide this information for you, move on. In-home caregivers may be left alone with your child, they may be unlicensed and are often costlier than other types of childcare; caution should be exercised when choosing this type of childcare.

If you want to have a set-up of a more casual environment you can go for a family daycare option. This type of childcare requires you to drop off and pick up your child at the person’s home. Often there are charges made if you are late in picking up your child; the caregiver is more like a nine-to-five business and may strictly enforce this rule. These types of childcare providers should be licensed, and the type of care provided is left up to the individual so again, references from other parents are crucial and again, by searching more information like “child day care association” can give you a significant help before deciding.

Another option again that you can consider is a day care center. Such an institution must be licensed. Your child will be among more children, receiving less individualized care than the previous two types of childcare mentioned. However, there are many benefits to this type longer hours of operation, less stringent rules on pick up and drop off times, and more activities with more children to interact with. The down side may be the more children your child is exposed to the more chance of illness and other problems resulting from interacting with many young children at once.

Are Homebirths Safe?

July 2nd, 2009

Having your child in the home?  Who would do such a thing?  Didn’t that only happen back in the early days of our country when doctor’s had to go out to the prairie and deliver babies?

Not quite.  There are a growing number of women who have discovered the benefits of having your baby at home, or a homebirth as it is commonly called.

The practice of homebirths is usually called midwifery.  Although usually not nurses or doctors, the people who are in midwifery are professionally regulated.  I myself have seen the steady rise of homebirths through my practice as a San Diego certified midwife.

The people, generally women, who perform this line of work are called homebirth midwives.  Midwives is a more common term that people are familiar with and means a person who attends childbirth and provides support during labor and delivery.

Now a midwife is usually not a nurse or doctor because in general a midwife generally believes that pregnancy and births are natural events and should be allowed to proceed naturally without drugs.  This is contrasted with the medical model which believes that pregnancy and delivery should be accompanied by medicine to assist and improve the situation.
