What Does "Went to showdown winning percentage" Mean In Poker Calculators?

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

A couple of important, but often over-looked statistics in most poker calculator software are the “went to showdown percentage” and the “went to showdown winning percentage”. They may in fact be overlooked even though they are quite important as contributing to the over-all profile of your opponents combined with VPIP and PFR indicators.

Being somewhat overshadowed as indicators useable on their own, the WSD and WSD% are actually relatively accurate clues to two very key factors when gauging your opponents. Knowing your opponent’s propensity to call bets like an “elephant” and knowing his likeliness of calling your bluffs are two pieces of information that can be very costly if you don’t have a handle on them.

“Went to showdown” is the propensity of your poker opponent to keep his hand active until the final play is made in a hand. By the very nature of this action, you know his VPIP has be higher, but if both are high, say like VPIP of 46% and WSD 32% you have virtually no chance of taking this player off a pot. This player is commonly called a calling station and generally plays by the axiom that he still has a chance to win the hand, no matter what stage of the hand he is in. They typify wishful thinking to dangerous and costly levels.

The “went to showdown win percentage” helps qualify an opponent’s play in the “went to showdown” indicator because if he is actually winning the showdowns he could be getting a good run of cards, playing great position, and even making some fantastic reads. The truth of the matter is though that your opponent is only proving his lack of poker fundamentals with hole cards and board cards. The lower this percentage is, also indicates a player’s overall experience where something around the 40% range or lower means you are dealing with someone who may simple not know the difference in rank between a straight and a flush.

Grow Your Poker Bankroll Using The Best Sit and Go Strategy.

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

It's not easy to play poker when you are free falling. Your bankroll took a beating like you haven′t experienced before. The RNG has determined you as it's next victim. This can be frustrating, since you really wanted to play and felt good before you started. It’s your day off and the house is to yourself. You have been looking forward to this day all week long. It’s just that the winning part of the plan didn′t come through.

Your instincts tell you to keep playing because that’s what you do. Your poker can always improve, and bad luck does go away. The problem with thinking is that that is usually the time when your luck gets worse. Sometimes playing poker can be difficult and we have all experinced such times where nothing goes right.

It’s easy to break the rules in these trying times, to try and make your money back. However breaking bankroll rules is just a segway to Murphy’s Law, and you′re generally only to have more to complain about and more to be remorseful after you have finally had your fill.

When I get in spots like this, where I really really really want to keep playing, I satisfy or by playing sit and go tournaments. Not just any sit and go tournaments but the low low low limit’s is what I’m talking about here. I mean the one or two dollar heads up, or six seated single table tournaments. First of all not only is your competition week at these levels, a good number of them don’t even care if they win or not - seriously. And so that's just to accomplish that is to simply win.

MY FAVOURITE TELEVISION PROGRAMME

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Some people are TV addicts. They switch on the TV as soon as the TV programmers start, remain glued to their seats and watch all the programmers. They have lost their sense of appreciation and power of judgment. They cannot say which TV program they like most. But since 1 watch only a few select TV programs, I can say which of these 1 like most.

Among the programs I watch I like ‘Mahabharata’ most. 1 am not a student of the fine arts, nor am I an art critic. So I cannot give reasons or explanations for my likes and dislikes. I like a programs because I simply love to watch it, and 1 do not care what experts or critics say about it. The real test of any good work of art is the interest it creates in us. ‘Mahabharata’ interests me so much that I do not know how time flies.

The story of ‘Mahabharata’ by itself is very absorbing and full of a variety of interesting episodes of all sorts. So when it is presented on the screen, and the characters of that great epic stand in their historical background with their traditional costumes before my eyes and I see them talking and acting their parts, 1 forget myself and become a part of that great drama. I am one with its central characters. I rejoice at their happiness, sympathise with their suffering, feel angry at their wickedness and pity their misfortune. The TV screen greatly succeeds in arousing the same feelings and sentiments which the great poet Veda Vyas intended to arouse, but perhaps did not always succeed on account of the limitations of language as a means of effective communication.

The great battle of Mahabharata between the Pandavas and Kauravas reminds me of the great battle that has been going on in our society and within my own mind between the forces of good And evil of virtues and vices. It seems to me that when 1 am not able to decide between a good act and a bad one, Lord Krishna, who dwells deeply within me guides Arjuna, my troubled coherence and prepares me for the right action.

Omaha Poker Calculator Review

omaha indicator

If you are like me and most on-line poker players, you have probably seen a lot of felt with 2 hole cards (Texas Holdem). Whether you are an experienced Omaha player, or are looking for an some variety to Holdem and just starting out with Omaha, Omaha Indicator (OI) is a must have tool.

Prior to using Omaha Indicator, I had never played Omaha, so this review comes from the view point of a beginner, who is, thanks to Omaha Indicator on a meteoric learning (and profit) curve.

Making the switch from Holdem to Omaha is not easy. Hand strength, draw odds, redraw potential and starting hand strength are markedly different to Holdem.

Enter Omaha Indicator as the essential beginners’ aid. Pre flop hand strengths are expressed in terms of both Hutchison Points and a semantic rating. These indicators can sometimes be contrary to each other, especially when dealing with high hand strength only.

Shopping For HD Service

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

These days folks are looking to maximize their entertainment dollar. High gas prices, a slowing economy, and high food costs are putting the squeeze on citizens. Fortunately, one of the great values in entertainment is your cable or satellite TV service.

If you stop and think about it, you can get a package including over 100 stations including premium movie channels like HBO and Starz for about $95 dollars a month. That is less than you typically spend for dinner and a first run movie. The latest and greatest in the pay TV market is HD, or high definition service. What should you evaluate when hooking up that new plasma TV you just bought?

Remember that your standard cable or satellite TV service is not in hi-def. You must specifically purchase a programming package that includes this type of programming. So where do you begin?

Make a call to your current provider and investigate exactly what they offer as far as HD service. Satellite television companies DISH Network and DirecTV have been leading the charge as far as providing the most high definition when you look at channel counts. Cable television providers like Cox also have some nice offerings, including HD on-demand. Ask exactly how much upgrading to hi-def will be, and if you need additional equipment.

“Outlet Stores” Where did they begin?

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Outlet stores could have sprung up from country potteries that sold their less than perfect products as “seconds” for reduced prices.  Stoneware jugs, crocks and churns are examples of a utilitarian antique pottery that spanned the early 19th century through the Civil War and beyond.  They progressed from being one-man made to being mass produced by the hundreds in large factories.

Collectors can trace this ceramic from a rippled hand thrown ovoid jug to straight sided assembly line advertising crocks.  Maker’s marks and capacity marks were often impressed or stenciled on factory products.  These wares were heavy and inexpensive and were often sold door-to-door on the back of a wagon.  One of the first decorations used from the early 19th century until about 1840 was a scratch design known as sgraffito.  A sharp wire or nail produced the simple design.  Other decorations favored by collectors are slip-trailed (raised) or painted designs of intricate blue flowers, birds, animals or scenes that are charmingly naive in their rendering.  By the 4th quarter of the 19th century, time was recognized as money and decorations might be only a casual stenciled swirl unless a special gift was ordered.

As modern conveniences developed, stoneware containers dwindled in popularity.  Glass containers and bottles became common place by the 1840s.  By 1860, glass was actually becoming less expensive than stoneware in cities and by 1880, factory made oak iceboxes lined with metal revolutionized home refrigeration causing crock stoneware to lose more business.  In 1919, prohibition effectively destroyed the stoneware whiskey jug and beer bottle business.

OBJECTIVES OF THE VISUAL ARTS

Friday, September 26th, 2008

It is very difficult to stake out clearly the boundaries which separate art from non-art. As suggested above, this requires a judgment of value, i. e. the separation of the good from the ordinary, average, or bad. We shall try to come to grips with this problem in a later lesson. In addition to the problem of quality, there is that of the objectives, the aims of art. These have often been formulated, usually without any very conclusive results. Here are some of the most common attempts at defining the objectives of art:

1. Art should be the Imitation (or Interpretation) of Nature.

2. Art is the Self-Expression of a Great Personality.

Are Virtual Casinos Safe To Be Trusted?

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

casino slot machine

People who enjoy gambling used to have to find a legal casino, usually out of their own state, and travel quite a distance in order to enjoy the past time. However, there are now alternatives to the mortar and brick casinos; these are known as internet casinos, virtual casinos and online casinos. Most often, this type of casino has the same payback and odds that physical casinos have, but there are some that claim to have bigger payouts and higher percentages. At times, they will even post their slot machine game percentage audits online.

Trust issues and reliability are commonplace and often questioned when it comes to gaming online. Most of the companies either lease or buy their casino software from some of the better-known companies. Many times, they do this in order to “piggyback” the good reputation of some of those companies and hopefully bring more people to their site because of this. Additionally, the software companies use, or at least claim to use, random number generators to ensure that the cards, dice or numbers appear randomly.

Other than a period in the 1920s, when the United States banned gambling, it has been around forever. The ban did nothing to decrease the allure of gambling and its instant gratification. Today, there are alternatives to betting at an actual casino. If you have a debit or credit card, a computer and an internet connection, then you have everything you need to gamble at any of the online casinos. If you are lucky, then you may win a jackpot that is many times bigger than what you earn in a year.

Are Gambling Systems A Winner?

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

video poker machines

You have probably heard the term that gambling is all luck and perhaps you think that is how it should be. However, if you are an experienced player, then you may be familiar with different betting or gambling systems that utilize statistics and mathematical tactics. Is it possible to increase your winnings by using these different systems? If so, what happens to the element of luck and inexperienced players?

Many feel that no matter if you play at the best internet casino or the more traditional brick and mortar casinos, these betting systems do not work. If that is true, then why do people keep using these systems? One possible answer is if there is the slightest chance that there is a program that will help you win, then you are willing to try. And the thought of sure and fast winnings is hard to resist.

Naturally, there are differing opinions about using these types of programs for gambling. Many experts say that is not possible to influence casino games enough for this to work. The random number generator used in casino software always generates new numbers without any bearing on the previous results. It appears that these gambling systems do not take into account that the games, such as video slot machines or a slot machine game, do not have a memory, so how can they remember what the last score or result was? Roulette is another good example; each turn of the wheel is a new spin and has no connection at all to any of the other spins.

Make an Outstanding Layout

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

How to get the most out of using just a single picture (photo or art) on a page? The page can be a page in a magazine, a book, a folder /announcement or a web page.

Using just one photo or picture may be seen as a challenge. But the difference and impression between using no pictures and a single picture is much bigger than the difference between one picture and several pictures on a page, whatever printed material or an online webpage.

A sublime layout with pictures has nothing to do with the number of pictures but how they are used.
Be inspired for your desktop publishing and web page layout by the following ideas and tips.

* A picture as a whole page background

A picture as a background on a printed page can look very attractive. The real challenge is to find a picture that fits with having text on parts of it. The part of the picture that is covered by text shouldn’t have any structure and the color mustn’t be aggressive. A thin blue sky will often be a good choice if it matches the message.
